 JOB DESCRIPTION - TEEN SERVICES STAFF – RECREATION / B.L.O.C.K. (PART TIME) 

RATE OF PAY: $12.00

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This position is responsible for leading and supervising activities at the B.L.O.C.K. Youth and Teen Center for teen participants and at-risk populations.

EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Note: These examples are intended merely as illustrations of the various types of work performed)

  • Responsible for operating township vehicles and the safe transportation of program participants to assigned locations
  • Present a professional image, in person and by telephone
  • Responsible for detection and reporting of property and equipment defects
  • Ensure safety rules, policies, regulations and procedures are followed by public and employees
  • Responsible for enforcement of departmental rules and regulations, operating procedures, and policies
  • Assist in the planning, supervision, and coordination of teen programs, participants and activities as assigned
  • Assist in coordination of set up, tear down and clean up of programs and events
  • Assist with the responsibility of responding to, communicating and documenting emergency situations and incidents, including but not limited to First Aid, CPR, Severe Weather and Missing Child Events
  • Responsible for facility and equipment appearance and cleanliness
  • Assume lead worker responsibilities for events and activities as assigned 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Minimum age of 18 years old
  • Must possess a current, valid Driver's License with a driving history that does not create liability concerns; which include, but are not limited to, convictions for reckless driving, careless driving, suspended license or convictions involving drinking and impaired driving
  • Ability to operate a 12-passenger van equipped with a wheelchair lift, with the ability to tow a trailer behind the van as necessary
  • Must be able to possess a valid Michigan Chauffer License within 14 days of hire
  • Must be able to possess and perform Basic First Aid and CPR (Adult & Infant) Certifications within 60 days of employment; opportunity for certification will be provided by employer
  • Ability to respond to emergencies in a calm and efficient manner
  • Must be educated in Diabetic Care and Monitoring within one year of employment; Opportunity for in-service training and certification will be provided by employee
  • Ability to clearly communicate procedures, problems, and policies with fellow employees and the public tactfully and courteously
  • Skill in organizing self and others; ability to self-start in discharging responsibilities
  • Ability to work a wide variety of shifts including afternoons, evenings, weekends and holiday
  • This is an "At-Will" position: Work assignments and hours scheduled based on availability, division requirements and within the confines of the budget.  Schedules and work hours are not guaranteed and are subject to change at any time due to division needs, budgeting and staff availability
  • Knowledge, of the facilities, equipment and supplies required by the assigned area
  • Prior experience working with youth and at-risk populations required

Posting Information: Teen Services Staff - Recreation/B.L.O.C.K. (Part-time) 

  • Hours for this position may be scheduled Monday thru Friday primarily between the hours of 2:30 pm and 6:30 pm with occasional nights.
  • This is a part-time job opportunity. An employee is this position can work up to 29 hours per week year round. Work hours, however, will be solely determined based on work load and availability.
  • This is an at-will position. Hours are limited and will vary based on the operational needs of the department. Employees in this position are not full-time and will be classified as part-time, seasonal or variable hour employees.
  • Schedule: Ability to work a wide variety of shifts including afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.
