The Park Ranger is a seasonal position responsible for routine manual labor and maintenance work in a variety of parks and ground functions.


EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Note: These examples are intended merely as illustrations of the various types of work performed)

  • Responsible for enforcement of established park rules and local ordinances
  • Responsible for greeting and assisting park patrons and guests in a pleasant, friendly and efficient manner
  • Ensure a pleasant and safe park environment for all park guests; responsible for general security of assigned park including any necessary communication with local law enforcement agencies
  • Assist with general custodial and maintenance of park buildings and facilities, including but not limited to, sweeping, trash pickup and other general grounds keeping duties as assigned
  • Perform manual labor, including but not limited to, mowing, snow shoveling and salting
  • Assist in the setup and take down of special events as assigned
  • Perform other assigned duties as required


  • Minimum age of 18 years old
  • Must possess a current, valid Driver's License with a driving history that does not create liability concerns; which includes, but is not limited to, convictions for reckless driving, careless driving, suspended license, or convictions involving drinking and impaired driving
  • Ability to clearly communicate procedures, problems, and policies with fellow employees and the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with employees and the general public
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to drive a pickup truck or utility cart
  • General knowledge of security practices ensuring park safety for all guests
  • Skill in organizing self and others; ability to selfstart in discharging responsibilities
  • Ability to properly and safety operate a wide variety of maintenance equipment, including but not limited to, tractors, sweepers and different types of power mowers, lawn equipment, and hand and power tools
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor; ability to work in adverse environmental, extreme weather and field conditions
  • Ability to work a wide variety of shifts including afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • This is an "At-Will" position: Work assignments and hours are scheduled based on availability, division requirements and within the confines of the budget. Schedules and work hours are not guaranteed and are subject to change at anytime due to division needs, budgeting constraints and staff availability

Posting Information: Park Ranger (Part-Time) 

  • Must be available to work weekends.
  • Part-time and seasonal positions available.
  • Part-time employees can work up to 29 hours per week year round. Work hours, however, will be solely determined based on work load and availability.
  • Seasonal employees may be scheduled to work up to 40 hours per week for a limited duration of time (April 1st through September 30th) on an at-will basis. Work hours, however, will be solely determined based on work load and availability.
  • This is an at-will position. Hours are limited and will vary based on the operational needs of the department. Employees in this position are not full-time and will be classified as part-time or seasonal hour employees.
  • All candidates will be notified VIA EMAIL of disposition of the employment application.
  • Being hired to fill a vacant position will require reference checking, background information, working history verification, driving record, physical exam, drug screen and new hire orientation.
  • Schedule: Ability to work a wide variety of shifts including afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must meet minimum requirements of the position to be considered.
