Rate of Pay: $10.50 / Hour

JOB DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:


The Seasonal Laborer position for the Park's Department is a seasonal position responsible for routine manual labor and maintenance work in a variety of Township operations. An employee in this class works for a calendar period, usually the summer or winter months, and may be required to work up to 40 hours per week on a seasonal basis. The employee may also perform routine or repetitive tasks without supervision.


EXAMPLES OF WORK:(Note: These examples are intended merely as illustrations of the various types of work performed)

  • Performs general grounds keeping duties including but not limited to trash removal and light maintenance
  • Performs manual labor, including but not limited to shoveling, snow removal, digging ditches and trenches
  • Operate a variety of equipment including but not limited to power mowers, tractors, hand tools and power tools
  • Performs other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Minimum age of 18 years old
  • Some knowledge of hand and power tools and ability to use those tools properly and safely
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor; ability to work in adverse environmental, extreme weather and field conditions
  • Ability to operate department vehicles including but not limited to small vans or pick-up trucks
  • Must possess a current, valid Driver's License with a driving history that does not create liability concerns; i.e. convictions of reckless driving, careless driving, suspended license, or convictions involving drinking and impaired driving
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish good working relationships with the public and other employees
  • Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work a wide variety of shifts including afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • This is an "At-Will" position: Work assignments and hours are scheduled based on availability, division requirements and within the confines of the budget. Schedules and work hours are not guaranteed and are subject to change at any time due to division needs, budgeting constraints and staff availability

  • Must be available Monday through Sunday from 6:30am to 2:00pm (April thru September). Must also be available some holidays.
  • This is a seasonal job opportunity. A seasonal position may be scheduled to work up to 40 hours per week for a limited duration of time (no more than 6 calendar months) on an at-will basis Work hours, however, will be solely determined based on work load and availability.
  • This is an at-will position. Hours are limited and will vary based on the operational needs of the department. Employees in this position are not full-time and will be classified as part-time, seasonal or variable hour employees.
  • All candidates will be notified VIA EMAIL of disposition of the employment application.
  • Being hired to fill a vacant position will require reference checking, background information, working history verification, physical exam, drug screen and new hire orientation.
  • Schedule: Ability to work a wide variety of shifts including afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.
